About Weifang Engineering Vocational College
Weifang Engineering Vocational College is located in Qingzhou, Weifang, a coastal city in eastern Shandong Province. Shandong province, with its profound cultural heritage and beautiful natural scenery, is the birthplace of the world famous thinkers Confucius and Mencius. Weifang is a famous historic and cultural city in China and an open coastal city, with the title of "World Kite Capital". Qingzhou has won national honorary titles such as China's Excellent Tourism City, National Historic and Cultural City, National Civilized City, etc.
Weifang Engineering Vocational College is a state-run full-time higher vocational college approved by Chinese Ministry of Education. The predecessor was the Peizhen Academy, which was founded by the British in 1881 with a history of more than 100 years. Higher vocational education has been held since 1978. The college has been awarded many honorary titles: National Advanced Unit of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education in Higher Vocational College, High-quality Vocational College in Shandong Province, Characteristic Famous College of Talents Cultivation in Shandong Province, Excellent College of Personnel Training Level Assessment in Shandong Province, The First Group of Higher Vocational Education Institutions in Shandong Province, Modern Apprenticeship Pilot Colleges in Shandong Province, Education Informatization Pilot Unit in Shandong Province , Weifang Civilized Campus.
The college now consists of five campuses, namely Yunmen campus, Linglong Campus, Fenghuang Campus, Jinma Campus and Wolong Campus, covering an area of more than 100 hectares. The library holds 920,000 volumes. There are 15 teaching departments, 60 higher vocational majors with a total enrollment of more than 21,000 students.
At present, there are more than 800 full-time teachers, 92% of whom are “double professionally titled teachers”, including 56 professors and 137 associate professors. The number of teachers who get master's and doctor's degrees reaches 53%. More than 550 industrial enterprise technical backbones and skilled craftsmen are employed as part-time teachers. There are 18 national provincial teaching achievement awards, seven provincial teaching teams, two provincial Huang Danian (a national excellent teacher in China) teaching teams, 14 provincial famous teachers and provincial excellent teachers, eight provincial famous teacher studios (technological skills inheritance and innovation platform), seven Weifang top professional and technical talents (experts with outstanding contributions). The college has three national backbone majors, two national key majors, two vocational education training bases supported by the central government finance, two national productive practice bases, seven provincial characteristics majors, nine key majors of Shandong provincial talent cultivation characteristic college, three provincial high level professional groups, four first-class professional groups of Shandong high-quality higher vocational colleges, 16 city-level characteristic brands (key) majors (groups), 11 national, provincial and municipal application technology collaborative innovation centers, 109 provincial high-quality excellent (featured) courses. The college has more than 410 training bases in and out of campus, including 3 "campus factories" such as Caterpillar Inc. training center.
Adhering to the "internationalization" educational orientation, the college actively builds an international educational brand, actively serves the "Belt and Road Initiative" construction and the "Go Out Policy” of regional economy, and constantly expands international cooperation projects. It has established cooperative and exchange relations with more than 50 universities in more than 30 countries and regions. The college offers three Chinese-foreign cooperative education programs: logistics management, preschool education and computer information management. The college has joined some international cooperation organizations such as the China-Africa Vocational Education Alliance and China Branch of Association of Silk Road Countries Universities and Consulting Companies. WEVC Vietnam Institute has been jointly built with GoerTek Group (Vietnam) Co., Ltd., and China-Uzbekistan Modern Agricultural Technology Training Base has been jointly built with the Ministry of Silk Industry of Uzbekistan. More than 400 teachers and students have been sent abroad for exchange and study. More than 200 international students from the Philippines, Bangladesh, Egypt and other countries as well as teachers and students from friendly colleges and universities came to our college for exchange and study. The first intangible Cultural Heritage Industry College in Shandong province was inaugurated in our college, therefore international students can experience traditional Chinese culture on campus. In addition, international students can also participate in international kite festival, flower expo and other cultural experience activities.
